Gender Dimensions in Peacebuilding
The encounter of diverse stakeholders, coming together at the Swiss Armed Forces International Command (SWISSINT) base on 6 July 2021, produced contradictory positions and misunderstandings but also valuable connection points. To empower the UN-resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security, the dialogue between research and practice is worth to be taken to the next level.
Read the r4d Resource Paper “Gender Dimensions in Peacebuilding” containing semantic reflections on the terms gender and civil society, addressing the continuum as well as distinction of peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations and emphasising the added value of gender-sensitive mixed methods in research and practice.
Read the Executive Summary and Take-aways with key elements of the dialogues, insights for facilitating future encounters and recommendations for continuing the dialogue between research and peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations.
Authored by Remo Reginold and Urs Vögeli, SIGA.
This event was co-organised by the Swiss Programme for Research on Global Issues for Development (r4d programme), the Swiss Armed Forces International Command (SWISSINT) and the Swiss Institute for Global Affairs (SIGA) on 6 July 2021.
